International opportunities await ǿ޴ý students in Taiwan this summer

Students can study in Taiwan at Tunghai University from May 18-June 25

DECATUR – ǿ޴ý University students have the opportunity to study aboard during a mini semester this summer in Taiwan. The program, hosted by the , runs from May 18-June 25 and is partnered with Tunghai University in Taichung, Taiwan. 

Students will travel with Dr. Carrie Trimble, Associate Professor of Marketing and Chair of the Tabor School of Business.

“I'm excited about the opportunity for the students to explore Taiwan and network with international students from around the world,” Carrie said. “I believe everybody ought to see the world, and the Taiwan Mini Semester is a great way to earn up to six credit hours while experiencing someplace new.”

Tunghai University is the oldest private university in Taiwan, established in 1955. The university is located on a suburban campus in Taichung, Taiwan’s second most populous city with 2.8 million residents. 

Students will have a variety of course options in Arts &Sciences and Business at Tunghai and will be able to study with international students from around the world. All courses are taught in English and students can take one or two courses for the same price.

A highlight on the campus is Luce Chapel, designed by renowned Chinese-American architect I. M. Pei, who also designed the Louvre Pyramid in Paris. 

The cost of the program is $6,000, including tuition, airfare, lodging, and a week of sightseeing and cultural activities. Students will also attend the annual Dragon Boat Festival, which is a holiday honoring ancient poet Qu Yuan, that features teams racing Dragon Boats.
