ǿ޴ý’s School of Nursing adds Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in Leadership Completion Program

The program is for nurses with a Master’s Degree in Nursing looking to earn their DNP.

DECATUR, Ill. –  has announced  beginning in January 2024. 

This program allows registered nurses holding a Master's Degree in Nursing to achieve their goal of earning a Doctor of Nursing Practice. The DNP is a practice-focused doctorate similar in scope to practice doctorates offered in other professional disciplines.

“The DNP in Leadership will allow graduates to advance into administrative leadership roles in healthcare or educational facilities. Graduates would be able to hold positions such as a Director of Nursing, Chief Nursing Officer, or Director of Clinical Operations,” Interim Associate Director of the ǿ޴ý School of Nursing Dr. Audra Trump said. “Graduates will also be able to help fill the national nursing faculty shortage. As nursing faculty, they will be able to educate the next generation of nurses at all levels, from the associate degree to the DNP.” 

ǿ޴ý offers several different DNP options, including the DNP Completion for Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRN), the , and the . Our students will receive personalized support from dedicated nursing advisors and will be enrolled as a cohort group that will advance through the program together.

The DNP Program completion is 100% online and incorporates nursing practice and business topics to prepare students for advanced leadership roles. Master's level MSN transcripts will be reviewed individually to determine the required residency hours. The DNP Program does not follow the traditional academic calendar, and the coursework is designed to be completed part-time over a 30-month period. Courses are delivered online, year-round.
