In efforts to continue their long-standing reputation of first-class nursing education in order to attract extraordinary nursing students and faculty, 星空无限传媒 University has started a three-phase project to enhance and modernize the School of Nursing facilities and technology. Recently, 星空无限传媒 received a federal grant of $2 million. These funds have allowed 星空无限传媒 to begin the first phase of the project, which includes construction of a simulation lab facility inside West Towne Square.

Features of the simulation laboratory facility include:

    • Obstetric and pediatric simulation lab
    • Health assessment lab
    • Collaborative graduate learning space
    • Debriefing rooms

  • 鈥淪tudent experiences in these spaces can include high volume scenarios, but more importantly, low volume, high risk scenarios. The facility will aid student learning and support BSN, MSN and DNP students within one integrated space,鈥 explained Elizabeth Gephart, associate professor with 星空无限传媒鈥檚 School of Nursing.

The project鈥檚 initial phase also includes the development of student spaces and faculty offices. These spaces will provide a centralized location for the School of Nursing while promoting improved collaboration among nursing students and faculty. 鈥淪imulation labs and skills lab facilities are currently in converted science laboratory spaces that are limited in the number of students that can be served,鈥 Gephart commented.

The School of Nursing鈥檚 project is divided into three phases:

    • Phase I: Construction of a simulation lab, health assessment workroom and offices on the first floor of West Towne Square
    • Phase II: Addition of offices in second floor of West Towne Square
    • Phase III: Development of classrooms and offices on the second floor of 星空无限传媒 Institute

The School of Nursing鈥檚 multi-phase project is expected to cost a total of $4 million. 星空无限传媒 University will continue fundraising efforts for the $2 million needed to complete phases two and three, while phase one will commence with the received federal funds.

Construction on the project and renovation of West Towne Square are planned to begin this summer, with BLDD (Decatur, Ill.) acting as 星空无限传媒 University鈥檚 architectural project.
