    Ecological Journeys

    Ecological Journeys is a travel course designed to familiarize students with principles of ecology in exotic or unusual environments. Students work together to design and carry out field investigations to be conducted on the trip. Off-campus sites could include the Galapagos Islands, South Africa, Alaska and Costa Rica.

    On-Campus Job Opportunities

    Many biology students work for the department to earn money. Student workers may:

    • Serve as lab assistants for biology courses.
    • Prepare materials for labs and maintain inventory of equipment, materials, and supplies.
    • Care for plants in the greenhouse and for research animals in the animal care facility.

    Environmental Affairs Council
    The Environmental Affairs Council (EAC) is a student environmental group dedicated to protecting the earth's natural resources. They sponsor many programs on campus and in the local area including campus-wide recycling programs.  is the faculty advisor.

    Sigma Zeta
    Sigma Zeta is a national science and mathematics honor society. It encourages and fosters the attainment of greater knowledge in the fields of science and mathematics; it recognizes outstanding scholastic achievement in these fields through active, graduate, and honorary memberships.
